The 2012 Calendar (July 25-Aug 12)
Make Music New York is a live, free musical celebration across the city that takes place each June 21, the longest day of the year. On that day, hundreds of public spaces throughout the five boroughs become impromptu stages for over 1,000 free concerts.
US OPEN TENNIS PRE-WEEK- BEST ANNUAL FREE EVENT IN NYC FOR TENNIS FANS (Aug 20-23 in 2013)
New York’s Finest Free Outing: If you have time, get to the week long US Open Tennis qualifying matches where the titans practice and future racket royalty is watchable a few feet in front of you and your lens. Wander from court to court with others in the know for a great week of top tennis, often in perfect weather. Event is annual.

CENTRAL PARK CONCERTS
At Lincol Center the Metropolitan Opera presnts its operas on HD screens to an audience in 3000 seats.
Joseph Shakespeare-is-for-everyone Papp’s Shakespeare in the Park runs June through August with a break between two shows. This year 2015 starts with the Tempest Sat May 30 till Jul 8 Wed (not usually Mons and not Jul 4 Sat), then Cymbeline (Jul 23 Thu or) Jul 24 Fri till Aug 23 Sun. Plays take place inside the park at the bottom or south side of the Great Lawn at 79 St and West Side in the Delacorte Theater by the pond under the castle, but tickets are distributed there at 1pm (lines start at dawn on the path leading to box office from the bridge down the hill) and on line (a lottery, except for blocks allocated to corporate sponsors or seats bought by $200 supporters) and also at the downtown Public Theater just below Astor Place on Lafayette (the lower extension of 4th Avenue).Free Tickets (plus Tickets for Donors)Directions
